Love love love this wordpress plugin…

Ok so most of you know I’m a total geek when it comes to apps, plugins, widgets and all things like that. This post is a wordpress plugin recommendation from me to you. If you want to make sure you don’t miss any cross links to other pages on your blog or any affiliate commissions ever again, you need this plugin!

First of all let me explain 2 things:

Cross links are text links in your blog post that link to another of your blog post, landing pages, products etc, usually somewhere that goes into more detail on the specific subject you are referring to. This is great practice because it helps you guide your readers around your back catalouge of blog posts to where they need to be, it is also very good SEO practice.

Affiliate links are links that when clicked will earn you a commission if the person who clicks them purchases the product that the link leads to. It means the user will leave your site and go to another site of a product that you are promoting.

Ok, so you want to know how this works right?

I’ve started using the wordpress plugin SEO Auto Linker, (it’s totally free by the way, no affiliate commission here!)

What this plugin allows you to do is automatically link words and phrases of your choice, to links of your choice. Using the 2 examples above let me explain how I use it.

Cross links: I wrote a post about using something called tweetables to increase your website traffic. So when I want to drive traffic back to that post rather than explaing what a tweetable is right now, I just type that word tweetable and it automagically links to that blog post for further reference. This keeps people on your site for longer, helps with SEO, bounce rates and overall user experience.

Affiliate links:  I am a Screenflow affiliate, I use it to record my screen and demonstrate how to do things online. I am happy to recommend their software and for doing so I get a commission. What I do is set up the word ‘screenflow‘ to link to my affiliate link instead of another of my blog posts, then every time I type the word screenflow it generates that link, awesome right?

To walk you through the settings of the plugin I’ve created this video below, check it out…
